Hullskins

Abradgard®...a state-of-the art material

In 1989 Seavivor® introduced the new Abradgard® hullskin developed from new tchnology in the defense industries and from products developed for military hovercraft. A new generation of more abrasion and puncture resistant fabrics has replaced the old roofing haterials (Hypalon) used for the last thirty years, and is now the state-of-the-art material for hullskins.

Following the introduction of our new hullskin, the International Industrial Fabrics Institute recognized Seavivor's excellence and technical innovation by awarding us their Outstanding Achievement Award.

We do not mass produce boats or hullskins, nor do we use air tubes to take up the slack for sloppy pattern sewing, as found in mass production folding boats.. Each hullskin is fitted to a master framework for a perfect fit. One of the secrets to Seavivor's superior performance is the highly tensioned hullskin.

For maximum durability, our sewn seams are double and triple stitched with ultraviolet resistant thread: there is nothing stronger or more durable. Our hull bottom is totally welded, not glued - it can never come apart. Abradgard® is not only more abrasion resistant and puncture proof than other hullskins, it is also much easier to owner-repair in the field than the older hypalon materials. The deck fabric that tops our hullskin is not just coated fabric, but a laminated fabric composite for total waterproofing.
